 2024 Scholarship Descriptions

 

       Dollars for Scholars General Scholarship - $2,000 - minimum GPA of 2.5

        These $2,000 scholarships are available to graduating seniors who have a 2.5 accumulative high school GPA and show evidence of involvement in extra-curricular activities.

 

        Agnes Duncan Memorial Community Service - $1,000 scholarship  -  GPA of 2.5+

       A scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to the student with the best Community Service record. It will require a GPA of at least 2.5 and be merit based.  Aggie Duncan was a long-time community member and Deputy Clerk of the Days Creek School District.  She was very involved in community service projects and organizations throughout her life.

 

       Founders Scholarship in Memory of Susanna Dagler - $2,500 scholarship - GPA of 3.5+

       This $2,500 scholarship will be awarded based on a record of high academic achievement and initiative.  The minimum GPA requirement is 3.5.  Susanna was one of the original founders of Dollars for Scholars formed in 1992 and worked at Days Creek School District for 31 years.

 

       Founders Scholarship in Honor of Ruth Stafford - $2,500 scholarship - GPA of 3.5+

       This $2,500 scholarship will be awarded based on a record of high academic achievement and initiative.  The minimum GPA requirement is 3.5.  Ruth was one of the original founders of Dollars for Scholars formed in 1992 and taught at Days Creek School District for many years as librarian and English teacher..

 

Days Creek Dollars for Scholars Vocational Scholarship - $1,000 - a GPA of 2.0+

$1,000 is available to a graduating senior interested in a vocational program at an accredited vocational, trade or academic school.  It is based on student potential for a vocational career. A minimum of 2.0 GPA is required.  It may be used for certification in a skilled craft or trade, or associates degree in technical education.

 

John B. Smith Memorial Scholarship - $1,000 - GPA of 2.5+

This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and is based on merit.Jack Smith was one of the first graduates of Days Creek High School in 1929, and he later became the head ranger of the Tiller Ranger District.Jack was one of our first major donors and was instrumental in the setting up of our Endowment Fund that helps fund our scholarships.

Kelley Scholarship - $1,000 - GPA of 2.0+

 A $1,000 scholarship for a graduating senior may be used at any university, college, or vocational school. It is based on student potential and need. A minimum of 2.0 GPA is required.  Donated by a generous local couple.

 

Sever Ellefson Memorial Scholarship - $500 - GPA of 2.0+

This $500 scholarship for a graduating senior is to be used toward a degree in business, computer science, or related fields. A minimum GPA of 2.0 required.  Donated every year since 2008 by the Ellefson family in memory of former Days Creek student, Sever Ellefson.

 

Susanna Dagler Memorial Scholarship - $1,000 - GPA of 3.5+

This scholarship is available to a graduating senior with a minimum GPA of 3.5 and shows evidence of extra-curricular activity..Susanna worked at Days Creek School and was active in school activities & the Days Creek community. .Donated by the Dagler family and friends..

 

Tom Michaels Memorial Vocational Scholarship -$1,000 -GPA of 2,0+

This $1,000 scholarship is to be used for a vocational program at an accredited vocational, trade or academic school.  It is based on student potential for a vocational career.  A minimum of 2.0 GPA is required.  It may be used for certification or an associates degree in technical education.  Tom was a graduate of Days Creek High School in 1961 and also received a degree in Metallurgy from Oregon Institute of Technology. He was very community minded, supported Days Creek School and Douglas County through service on many boards and committees.

Continuing Education Scholarship,  The interest from our "Continuing Education Endowment Fund" is used for students entering their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of college or technical school.  The award amount and number of scholarships depends on the return from our endowment fund.  Students must have a cumulative higher education GPA of 2.25.
